Writing Methodology
Course Overview - Secondary
In this session, trainees will learn how to teach English composition classes using a variety of proven techniques. They will learn through studying, discussing, and using the techniques to produce their own writing. In addition, they will be expected to generate complete lesson/activity plans appropriate for use in their own classroom that employ the techniques they have studied. The lesson plans should harmonize with their normal English or other subject curriculum.
Textbook - Secondary
The primary textbook for this class is Techniques in Teaching Writing by Ann Raimes, published by the Oxford University Press (ISBN: 0-19-434131-3). Although it is not necessary for you to purchase this text, it is highly recommended that you do so if you are interested in learning more about teaching writing. It is available through most educational book retailers and the Internet (www.amazon.com).
